2023 Notice of Rules

 

Burial Plots

 

  1. One plot (5 x 12 ft) may contain either: 

  • one full (casket) burial with the possibility of adding one cremation after the casket burial OR

  •  a maximum of four (4) cremations.

 

  2. The plot holder has rights of burial and installation of a monument only.

 

Single Cremation Plots

 

  3. A single cremation plot can accommodate a single cremation burial.  The plot number is assigned at the point of purchase, but the exact location of the urn/container in the plot will be determined when arrangements for burial are finalized.  

 

  4. The single cremation plot holder has rights of burial but does not have the right to install a headstone or marker of any kind. 

 

Purchase and Payment 

 

  5. Purchase and payment for plot(s) must be arranged by the cemetery superintendent.

 

Interment and Disinterment

 

  6. No burial shall be allowed in any grave not paid for or against which charges are due.

 

  7. All interments in plots shall be restricted to members of the family of the holders of burial rights unless requested in writing by owner of the plot and permission is granted by the board.

 

  8. No grave shall be opened for interment or disinterment, except by the cemetery superintendent.

 

  9. All purchasers of burial rights must adhere to the provincial Statutes, which are enforced by the Board. This includes providing a Proof of Death Certificate, Cremation Certificate, or Burial Certificate at the time of burial.

 

 10. Interment or monument installation after November 1st is at the discretion of the cemetery superintendent.

 

 11. Cremation burials may occur from Monday to Friday or on the last weekend (Saturday and Sunday) of the month.

 

 12. No interment or installation of monument shall be done without the knowledge of the Board. Those not complying with these instructions will be held liable by the Board for any costs incurred.

Monuments and Markers

 

 13. Purchase and maintenance of monuments (tombstones) are the responsibility of the family, not the Board.

 

 14. All monuments must be marble, granite or approved stone.

 

 15. All monuments and flat stones must be staked by the cemetery superintendent to ensure they are in the proper location.

 

 16. All bases for monuments (tombstones) must be measured and installed by the cemetery superintendent.

 

 17. Flat monuments are to be placed so that grass cutting machinery can run across them unobstructed.

 

 18. Any stone which projects above the ground shall be deemed a monument. One monument shall be allowed for two (2) graves, except in the case of a single grave. 

A single grave is allowed a stone with a base not exceeding twenty-four (24) inches. 

A double grave is allowed a stone with a base not exceeding forty-eight (48) inches.

 

 19. Plot corner stones are not permitted.

 

Care of Plots

 

 20. No glass containers shall be used in the cemetery for any purpose.

 

 21. Fences, railings, walls, cut stone or hedges in or around graves are prohibited.

 

 22. Existing trees and shrubs planted on plots must be maintained by the family or they will be removed at the cost of the family.

 

 23. New trees and shrubs will not be permitted.

 

 24. Flowers may be planted in front of the monument only – not more than twelve (12) inches from the monument.

 

 25. The planting of invasive plants of any kind is strictly forbidden. (i.e., roses, day lilies).

 

 26. The family is responsible for removing dead flowers within ten (10) days of a burial.

 

 27. All persons are prohibited from plucking flowers either wild or cultivated, breaking or injuring any tree, plant or shrub or damaging any monument or vault.

 

 28. Artificial flowers are to be removed from graves and monuments each fall.

 

 29. All rubbish or refuse from the cemetery must be put in garbage containers located within the cemetery or removed from the grounds.

 

 30. Maintenance of the cemetery grounds is the responsibility of the Cemetery Board.

 

 31. The Board shall not be responsible for any damage done by nature or vandalism.

Single Cremation Plot:  $300

 

 

Administration Fees for Cemetery:

​

  • Grave opening/closing: $1,250

 

  • Large oversize grave opening/closing:  $1,350

 

  • ​Cremation opening/closing: $300

 

  • Cremation opening/closing over casket: $600

 

  • ​Staking for tombstones and flat stones: $150

 

  • Installation of tombstone base: 25 cents / sq. inch
